Sleep Paralysis..have it occurred to u?

was at KFC with nick zj cy, until nick mentioned about his mum who cant move after waking up from a sleep. And i remembered, it happened to me before as well! Nick and Cy both attributed the cause to ‘鬼压你’ which obviously i dont buy that. I asked my sister if shes got the same experience, and she freaking told me ‘鬼压你’ as well. what the hell.

So is it really ‘鬼压我’ , or could science prove otherwise?

Sleep paralysis: Awake but still asleep. (I tried to pick out only the few key points)

“A person may wake up and find himself unable to move or speak as if he is frozen. He also may hear footsteps, see a ghost-like creature, or feel someone sitting on his chest. Throughout the history, people considered this phenomenon as work done by evil spirits. However, the modern science can explain the terrifying event as a Sleep Paralysis.

A Sleep Paralysis is possibly a hereditary disorder in which one experiences very frightening seconds or minutes of total body paralysis with little respiration and eye movements. A victim in this state feels awake, but he cannot move or speak. When a person sleeps, his brain sends signals to inhibit any muscle contraction. If he comes into consciousness before the brain sends signals to activate muscle contraction, he cannot move his body, and consequently, become “paralyzed”.”

This is the simplest of the simplest explanation i can summarise into. The not cool part about this paralysis is that u will usually “tend to sense a terrifying presence in your room. Sometimes you see something; sometimes you hear noises or even feel electrical shocks throughout your body. Others see ghosts, vampires–whatever they have in their minds or are particularly afraid of. ” because in some cases, u “wake up before paralysis wears off, and yet still remain in a dreaming state. What results is hallucination, often of some extremely scary stuff.” I did not get this, and dont wish to as well.

“Sleep paralysis occurs in 30% of the general population.” Have it occurred to u?
